Starting pitcher drafted by Boston Red Sox
Starting pitcher Tom Ebert was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 19th round (588th) of the 2009 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft on June 10.
Ebert joins former outfielder/first baseman Tyler Townsend (third round, Baltimore Orioles) as the second Golden Panther drafted thus far.
Last season was Ebert's first year in a Golden Panthers uniform. The 6-foot-6 right-hander went 6-5 with a 4.39 ERA, striking out 84 batters, and he walked 18 in 80 innings.
